Your new tattoo is a piece of living art. Proper care during the healing process ensures that it heals beautifully and stays vibrant for years to come. Here’s how to support your body’s natural healing process:
1. The First 24 Hours
Your artist will clean and cover your fresh tattoo before you leave the studio.
Keep the bandage on for the recommended time (usually 2–4 hours, or as directed).
Once you remove it, wash your hands, then gently clean the area with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap.
Pat dry with a clean towel — never rub.
2. Let It Breathe
Avoid re-bandaging. Allow clean air to circulate — it helps your skin heal naturally. Skip heavy ointments or petroleum-based products; they can trap heat and moisture.
If the tattoo feels tight or dry, apply a thin layer of a natural moisturizer (such as pure shea butter, coconut oil, or a tattoo-specific balm made with plant-based ingredients). If a moisturizer is used , Always make sure to rinse the area before any re-application. Less is More! It needs to be able to Breathe.
3. Keep It Clean, Keep It Simple
Wash gently twice a day for the first week. Do not pick or scratch as your tattoo peels — this is normal and part of the body’s repair process. Avoid soaking the tattoo (no swimming, baths, or saunas) for at least two weeks.
4. Protect and Preserve
Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight while healing. After it’s healed, always use sunscreen (SPF 30+). Stay hydrated and maintain healthy skin — good aftercare starts from within.
5. What to Expect
Mild redness, tenderness, and light peeling are normal for the first few days. Complete healing usually takes 2–4 weeks, depending on your skin and placement.
Remember: every body heals a little differently. Treat your tattoo with the same care you’d give a healing wound — gentle, clean, and natural.
